Hāna High & Elementary School closure.
Hāna High & Elementary school in East Maui is closed today due to power outages in the area. The state Department of Education issued the notification last night amid inclement weather and heavy rains over the East Maui area.
The Hawaii DOE is also working with City and County of Honolulu officials and partner agencies to monitor the impact the weather is having on the Wahiawa Reservoir. As of now, schools in that area will be open today with no impact to their schedules. If that changes, due to safety concerns or the need to conver campuses into shelters for the community, the department will advise of any updates.
