Free Community Event: Mele + Mo‘olelo || ‘Awa + ‘Ai

In East Maui, a free community event takes place tonight, Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020. The “Mele + Moʻolelo || ʻAwa + ʻAi” program is a collaborative effort by Ala Kukui, Kahanu Garden, Ma Ka Hāna Ka ʻIke, Hāna Arts, and Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Those planning to attend are asked to bring their hāliʻi and ʻohana to enjoy hula, mele Hawaiʻi, ʻapu ʻawa and ʻai māmā with performances by Hālau o Nakaulakuhikuhi and special guest musicians Josh Kahula and Kūpaoa. The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on the lawn at Ala Kukui, located at 4224 Hāna Highway.
