Hale Makua Health Services Reports 3rd COVID-19 Case: 2 Home Health Patients, 1 Nursing Home Resident at Kahului Facility

Hale Makua Health Services has a newly confirmed COVID-19 positive case.  This brings the total to two individuals who are Home Health patients that are positive; and one who is a nursing home resident at the Kahului facility, who tested positive but is asymptomatic and recovering.

Hale Makua Health Services CEO, Wesley Lo provided information this afternoon on the latest home health positive case.

“That patient was admitted to our service on April 6.  He previously had been discharged in early April from the hospital,” said Lo.  According to Lo, once reports surfaced of the cluster at the Maui Memorial Medical Center, Hale Makua Home Health staff had wanted to get testing on the individual, and was able to do so on April 14 at a drive through clinic.

The positive test on this latest Home Health patient was returned today.

“The patient is currently asymptomatic and at a quarantine center.  We did have several staff that had been treating them,” said Lo, who noted that those staff members were also tested and are on 14-day quarantine while awaiting results.

Information on the prior two cases is available here.
