Although essential businesses have been operating throughout stay-at-home orders and some retail businesses are set to begin opening on Monday amid loosened safer-at-home orders, travel quarantines remain in place.

Both the 14-day visitor quarantine for people arriving from out of state, and an expanded quarantine to include interisland travel remains in effect through May 31st, unless otherwise lifted.

Maui Now has received multiple inquiries related to quarantine rules and how to report violations.

While reporting procedures were less defined in the beginning stages of the pandemic, there are now multiple agencies working in coordination to enforce alleged violations.

Here on Maui, the Maui Visitor’s Bureau is operating a hotline for people to report violations of the 14-day visitor quarantine.  The number to call is (808) 468-9952.

On Oʻahu, Special Agents with the Attorney General’s office have helped with enforcement and police in various counties have also stepped in to carry out enforcement.
