American Red Cross volunteers from the Maui County Chapter responded to an early morning residential fire on Liholiho Steet in Wailuku on New Year’s Day.

The Red Cross Disaster Action Team helped to coordinate emergency aid for the four adults and four children impacted by the fire. No injuries were reported.

The fire occurred at about 1 a.m., destroying a two-story, 2,400-square-foot home and three vehicles. The loss was valued at $225,000 for the house, $200,000 for its contents and $70,000 for the vehicles, according to the Maui Fire Department incident report.

The fire was extinguished about 4 a.m., with the cause undetermined.
