The Maui Interscholastic League has reached a decision to cancel the MIL Fall and Winter season sports which includes air riflery, basketball, bowling, cheerleading, cross country, football, canoe paddling, soccer, girls volleyball, swimming/diving, wrestling, JV Softball, and JV Baseball.

The organization issued a press release today saying, the decision was made after “careful consideration and extensive discussion.”

“The collaborative discussion amongst the MIL AD Council and the MIL Executive Board in this combined public and private school league have considered the many factors in this decision,” according to the press release from the MIL that was emailed to Maui Now.

According to the announcement, the MIL will now move forward to the possibility of Spring season sports which include baseball, golf, softball, tennis, track and field, judo, surfing, girls water polo and boys volleyball.

The Spring sports reportedly missed competition in the 2019-2020 school year due to the onset of COVID-19. “This will be the focus of the MIL moving forward,” the release stated.
