Maui Police Seize 177 Pounds of Illegal Aerial Fireworks Valued at $12,000

Maui Police generated 32 fireworks violation incident reports and issued a total of four citations during enforcement operations held over the New Year’s weekend.
Patrol Districts throughout Maui County received 99 calls for fireworks violations during the holiday enforcement effort.
Police say 177 pounds of illegal aerial fireworks, valued at over $12,000 were seized during the operation.
Police also responded to two miscellaneous accident cases involving injuries due to fireworks, as well as four firework-related fires, including a total loss of a residence.
