52-Year Old Maui Woman Pulled Unresponsive from Waters at Kā‘anapali

A 52-year-old Maui woman was pulled unresponsive from waters off of Kāʻanapali Beach on Tuesday afternoon.
Maui fire officials say that despite all lifesaving efforts by responders, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
The incident was reported at around 12:48 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, in waters about 10 feet offshore. Crews were called to the scene for a report of a possible drowning fronting the Sheraton.
Personnel arrived on scene to find CPR already in progress by bystanders.
It is unknown what type of activity the woman was involved in when she was found. First responders say ocean and weather conditions were calm at the time of the incident.
