A flash flood watch is in effect through this afternoon for all islands due to “deep moisture within an unstable easterly flow” that will produce elevated threats of flash flooding today.
Windward and mountain slopes are more at risk of flooding, but all areas of the state may experience flash flooding conditions.
According to the NWS forecast, “flood prone roads and other low-lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams,” and “urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff.”
The public is reminded not to cross fast flowing water in a vehicle or on foot.
